Prairie conservation icons: Larry Haverfield and Ted Hoilman

Dr. Patrick McMillan finished up his 2-part lecture series on grassland ecosystems for the class today, ending with an interview he shot with prairie conservation icon Larry Haverfield.  Larry passed away this past year, but if ever there is a icon for the generation of a prairie conservation ethic in our time, Larry is the man.

Dr. McMillan similarly discussed Grassy Bald conservation leader Ted Hoilman who for generations has been grazing cattle to maintain grassland habitat on Big Yellow Mountain along the Tennessee and North Carolina border.
